Democratic Candidate for Town of Jay Council
Olivia Dwyer (she/her) is running for the Town of Jay Town Council to serve and strengthen her community. She was born and raised in New York’s Adirondack Mountains, then left the area for 15 years to earn a degree in natural resources, work seasonal hospitality jobs in mountain towns, and build a 10-year career as a journalist focused on outdoor recreation across North America. In 2017, she and her husband moved to Upper Jay, where they now spend their free time making an old schoolhouse their home, hiking, skiing, and trying to keep up with their beagle, Pan. She now works as a children’s services caseworker for Essex County. As a council member, Olivia’s priorities would be transparent communication between local government and Jay residents, sound infrastructure, supporting established and new local businesses, and maintaining public health and safety.
