This month featured guest speaker, Au Sable Valley Central School District School Board candidate Shannon Stanley, wife of Jay Town Supervisor, Matt Stanley. (The school board election is May 17 from noon to 9pm in the cafeteria at the Middle School – High School in Clintonville.)
The meeting was called to order at 7:09 p.m.
Frank distributed petitions for Billy Jones (Democratic Assemblyman for the 115th District in which Jay, Keene, Wilmington and Lake Placid will be due to redistricting)
He then introduced Shannon who spoke about her background and reasons for running for the school Board (active parent and community member encouraged to run for Susan Richard’s seat, unopposed, in Term A with Scott Bombard). A new Superintendent, Mike Francia has been selected
Frank – Review of last meeting’s minutes.
Changed to reflect $229.88 in last month’s minutes was for Smart Site Designs webhosting and domain name, NOT for Marisol’s time which is donated
Frank – ECDC April meeting notes focused largely on redistricting and the Republican’s legal challenge to the Democratically drawn map. The congressional and state primary will be held Aug. 23
Also, absentee ballots will have postage, those wishing to vote in person after receiving an absentee ballot will need to do a provisional ballot
Knut – Review and approval of Treasurer’s report.
Frank – Status of inviting guests to future meetings, Billy Jones in June and possibly Senator Dan Stec, Roy Holzer (Wilmington Town Supervisor) Joe Pete Wilson (Keene Town Supervisor)
Marisol – Postcard and communications projects. 3 new Dems will receive welcome post cards. Currently the Town of Jay has 1,740 voters of which 641 are Dems and 571 Reps, 380 Blanks and 134 in minor parties and Wilmington has 283 Dems and 312 Rep with 57 with other affiliations
Knut Town update, notably Highway Department has lost 2 employees to retirement and had 1 resignation. Looking to raise wages to attract and retain new employees
Next meeting: Monday, June 20, 7 p.m. Santa’s Workshop guest Billy Jones. Refreshments encouraged.
