Minutes for March 11, 2024 J&WDC 7pm Zoom Meeting


Seven members present. Call to order 7:05

Reviewed minutes from February meeting including Democratic Assemblyman Billy Jones thoughts on the northern border, candidate for NY21 Congressional seat Steve Holden and Chris Sorrell who is running for the Highway Department. We have endorsed Amy Quinn for Essex County, as well as Billy and Chris

Treasurer’s report: Balance remains $401.

ECDC notes: early voting will begin for presidential primary with Joe Biden, Maryann Williamson and Dean Phillips March 23-30. Election Day is April 2.

Wilmington Town Justice position is open. No known candidates yet.

Paula Collins, attorney currently from NYC, recently announced she is running for NY21 as a Dem.

Petitioning update: Several members are circulating petitions for County Judge, Congress, Assembly and Highway Superintendent.

Town of Jay update. Board meeting coming up Thursday. Highway department continues to grow. DEC released funds for EV charges. The cafe is a backup property and FEMA has been approached to use a FEMA property near the Ice Jam Inn. Ground breaking in May.

Next JWDC Zoom meeting will be April 8 (solar eclipse day!), 7pm.
